Episode 53: Masks in the Dust Bowl
Amplified Oklahoma Show Notes
October 16, 2020
Show Notes
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted lives across the world, causing each of us to reevaluate the way we live and interact with those around us. However, for Oklahomans, this is not an entirely new phenomenon. This month on Amplified Oklahoma, we're highlighting the Dust Bowl era and the many ways people fought to protect themselves and their families - even when the dust and dirt found its way into their home. We’ll hear stories of using rags and makeshift masks to protect against the dirt, and of perseverance to endure during uncertain times. We’ll also hear from Dr. Randy Hubach, an Associate Professor of Rural Health and the Director of the Sexual Health Research Lab at the OSU Center for Health Sciences, as he discusses the necessity for resilience and community during a crisis, whether dust or disease.
