Then and Now
About the Collection
Voices and stories are keys to KOSU's mission of public service. They are also at the heart of the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program's work. From 2009 to 2013, Juliana Nykolaiszyn, then-oral history librarian for OSU, hosted "Then and Now," a weekly KOSU feature that aired Wednesdays at 9:17 a.m. and 4:44 p.m. on 91.7 FM, 107 FM and kosu.org.
Each week, Juliana would select interesting segments from a larger oral history interview conducted by the OOHRP and package the conversation for broadcast. "Then and Now" served as an outlet for the OSU Library to connect oral history with specific events or subjects and share those stories with KOSU listeners.
"I think I take something away from every interview I am involved with," Juliana said. "No matter the role, from interviewer to editor, I connect with the material and the subject matter and find myself becoming more closely tied to the fabric that is Oklahoma."
Today, the OOHRP is sharing similar stories through their podcast, "Amplified Oklahoma."
