Episode 58: Finding Community
Amplified Oklahoma Show Notes
April 16, 2021
Show Notes
Going to college is often described as a time of making new friends and experiencing new things. But how do you find people that share common interests or will be accepting? For many LGBTQ+ students at OSU, Oklahoma State Queers and Allies, OSQ&A for short, is a good place to start. This month on Amplified Oklahoma, we explore the history of the OSQ&A student organization, the evolution and reasons behind its many name changes, and the community that it has helped build. We’ll also talk with OSQ&A’s current historian, Lando D. about what OSQ&A looks like today.
Show Host
Hannah Brisendine
Hannah Brisendine is a Junior at Oklahoma State University and is studying both History and Political Science. She is also pursuing a minor in Law and Legal Studies. In her position she creates podcasts highlighting stories about Oklahoma using the Oral History Collections. She is a Community Mentor on campus at the Commons and is involved with OSQ&A. After graduation Hannah's goal is to find a way to help her community regardless of the job either as a historian or as a social worker.
