Episode 50: Women in STEM
Amplified Oklahoma Show Notes
July 17, 2020
Show Notes
The STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics cover a variety of disciplines and jobs in the U.S. workforce. While these jobs may only make up roughly six percent of the job market, there is a growing demand of these positions with as many as two million unfilled STEM jobs in our country alone. Additionally, these jobs have been historically dominated by men, with women only accounting for a quarter of all positions in STEM fields. This month on Amplified Oklahoma, we’re highlighting the stories of women in STEM fields. We’ll hear from botanical illustrators and engineers as we explore how these women navigated through and thrived in male-dominated professions.
