Mina Hibdon - House of Representatives 1973-1976
Mina Hibdon was interviewed May 2, 2007 as part of the Women of the Oklahoma Legislature Oral History Project. Mrs. Hibdon was elected in 1973 to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in a special election and served through 1976. She represented House District 44 and was a member of the Republican Party. She discusses her experiences of being the first woman and the first republican to win the District 44 seat. She also talks about her efforts to eliminate reference to gender in legislation and her efforts to draft a new Oklahoma Mental Health Code.
