Joan Hastings was interviewed June 24, 2008 as part of the Women of the Oklahoma Legislature Oral History Project. Ms. Hastings was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1974 and served through 1984. She represented House District 67 and was a member of the Republican Party. Ms. Hastings shares her memories of campaigning on horseback and describes how she ‘earned her spurs’ as she discusses some of her legislative efforts.
