Debbe Leftwich - Senate 2003-2010
Debbe Leftwich was interviewed November 30, 2007 as part of the Women of the Oklahoma Legislature Oral History Project. Mrs. Leftwich was elected to the Oklahoma Senate in 2003 and served through 2010. She held the Senate District 44 seat and is a member of the Democratic Party. Mrs. Leftwich presents the development of her interest in the political arena and some of the circumstances surrounding the 2003 special election. She also discusses some of her past legislative efforts such as creating a graduated driver’s license for teenagers and her interest in the issue of domestic violence.
