Angela Monson - House of Representatives 1990-1993; Senate 1993-2005
Angela Monson was interviewed April 11, 2007 as part of the Women of the Oklahoma Legislature Oral History Project. Ms. Monson served in both the Oklahoma House of Representatives, 1990-1993, and the Oklahoma Senate, 1993-2005. She held seats in House District 99 and Senate District 48 and was a member of the Democratic Party. In 2003 she became the first woman and first African-American assistant majority floor leader in the Oklahoma legislature. She was one of the chief architects of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. Ms. Monson discusses her career before the legislature, her interest in public and health policy, women in the legislature and her personal philosophy.
