About the Noon Concert Series
The Noon Concert Series features students from the OSU Music Department performing free concerts in an informal setting. The concerts are open to the public.
This popular series showcases students' talents and provides continued cultural programming in the Library.
This series is sponsored by the Friends of the OSU Library and the OSU Music Department.
History of the Noon Concert
The Noon Concert Series began in Fall 2004 as a way to increase cultural programming at the library in an informal setting. Originally called the Brown Bag It series, these concerts feature OSU music students in the Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room. The success of the series and the collaboration between the Library and the Music Department gave rise to the Noteworthy Evening event. First held in Spring 2006, A Noteworthy Evening raised funds for the Friends' Music Collection Endowment, which supports the purchase of materials for the study of music. This endowment is fully funded and purchasing materials, thanks in part to the legacy created by the Noon Concert Series.
