Stacy Takacs
co-editor of "American Militarism on the Small Screen"

Stacy Takacs is associate professor and director of American studies at Oklahoma State University and an associate member of the faculty in screen studies and gender and women's studies. Her research focuses on the intersections of popular and political cultures in contemporary American media, and her work has appeared in journals such as Cultural Critique, Cultural Studies, Quarterly Review of Film & Video, Feminist Media Studies, and Spectator: Journal of Film and Television Criticism. She is the author of two books: "Terrorism TV: Popular Entertainment in Post-9/11 America" (U of Kansas Press, 2012) and "Interrogating Popular Culture" (Routledge, 2014). She was also the co-editor of "American Militarism on the Small Screen" (with Anna Froula, Routledge, 2016). She is currently at work on a cultural history of the Armed Forces Network, specifically its television service.
This co-edited anthology includes a chronological survey of military-themed entertainment television programming. Featuring original essays on programs such as "The Phil Silvers Show," "Hogan's Heroes," "Baa Baa Black Sheep," "M*A*SH*," "China Beach," "JAG," "Over There" and more. The volume surveys the relations between television and militarism in US society since World War II.
