"Insects and Society" is an electronic book written for nonmajors that introduces them to the interactions between humans and insects. The online book includes illustrations, animations and quizzes that students take before class to prepare for the lectures. There are 30 chapters that introduce the classification of insects and discuss how insects interact with humans. Insects are the most deadly animals in the world, killing more than one million people each year. They are also indispensable components of the ecosystem, cleaning up waste and providing food directly to many organisms and indirectly through pollination.
