Rangika Hikkaduwa Koralege
co-author of the "Current Trends in Human Lipid Analyses" chapter in the book of "Advances in Chemistry Research, Volume 29"

Rangika Hikkaduwa Koralege is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at School of Chemical Engineering, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. She earned a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Oklahoma State University in 2014 and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, in 2007. Her overarching research interests are in the fields of nanomedicine, nanotechnology and toxicity of environmentally significant nanomaterials including nanomaterial synthesis and physicochemical characterization. Her research currently focused on designing and characterization of nanoparticles encapsulating therapeutic proteins to target erythrocytes for biomedical delivery applications.
Lipidomics is an emerging area of biomedical science, which involves complex lipid analyses. Enhancement of knowledge in the field of lipids requires powerful tools for their analyses due to the complexity of these molecules. Advances in the area of human lipid analyses have led to a deeper understanding of the various physiological and mechanistic functions of lipids in human anatomic systems, including roles in metabolic and cardiovascular health. This book chapter discusses current trends in the analysis of human lipids and lipoproteins. Advances in various quantitative and qualitative methods for the analysis of human lipids including spectroscopic, chromatographic separation and chemometric procedures are discussed in detail.
