Pedro Velasco

co-author of "Beginning Golf for the College Student"

Pedro P. Velasco is a doctoral student and visiting instructor in the Leisure Studies program of the College of Education at Oklahoma State University. In 2014, he co-founded and is the chief operating officer of a Technology Start-Up in Stillwater, along with two other Ph.D. graduates from OSU after participating successfully in the Governor's Cup Oklahoma and Tri-State Competitions. Velasco taught beginning golf and served as graduate assistant in the Play Golf America University program at OSU. He currently teaches Administration of Leisure Services, Recreation in Natural Environments and Corporate Recreation. He has also taught Social Foundations of Leisure, Areas and Facilities, Contemporary Issues in Diversity, Services Marketing and International Marketing. His research interests are focused on tourism and corporate recreation.

Beginning Golf for the College Student is designed as a textbook for the introductory golf activity class at OSU. It presents the history, rules, etiquette, equipment and techniques necessary for the student who is interested in the sport, but has limited knowledge. The textbook is accompanied with a workbook to guide the student through exercises to develop knowledge and skill for the enjoyment of the game.
