Company Officer is arguably the most important position in the fire service. Company Officers are responsible for the safe and efficient work of the firefighters that they command. The 5th Edition of Fire and Emergency Services Company Officer trains new leaders in the fire service on the skills they need to assess fireground dangers, keep firefighters safe and lead firefighters at emergency scenes. The manual is written to standards from the National Fire Protection Association. Fortney was assisted in the authorship of this manual by all of the editors, curriculum developers and graphic designers at FPP; the International Fire Service Training Association and a committee of subject matter experts.
Chief Officer, 3rd Edition trains company officers in the fire service to be chief officers and administrators. The manual outlines best practices for leading entire fire service organizations covering topics from hiring to purchasing practices. It also describes the coordination and scene management of large emergency incidents. The manual is written to standards from the National Fire Protection Association. Fortney was assisted in the completion of this manual by author Fred Stowell; all of the editors, curriculum developers and graphic designers at FPP; the International Fire Service Training Association and a committee of subject matter experts.
