Hailin Zhang

co-author of "Applied Manure and Nutrient Chemistry for Sustainable Agriculture and Environment"

November 4, 2015

Dr. Zhang earned his B.S. degree from Nanjing Agricultural University, China, M.S. degree from Iowa State University, and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He served as the soil chemist for the Navajo Agricultural Products Industry in Farmington, New Mexico for six years before joining OSU in 1996. Dr. Zhang's extension and research programs focus mainly on agricultural testing, plant nutrient management and environmental quality protection. He has been actively promoting soil testing as a best management practice for fertilizer and animal waste utilization, and developing decision support tools for farmers and crop consultants.

The book is composed of 19 chapters that highlight recent research activities in applied nutrient chemistry geared toward sustainable agriculture and environment. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, speciation, quantification, and interactions of various plant nutrients and relevant contributories in manure, soil and plants. This book outlooks emerging researchable issues on alternative utilization and environmental monitoring of manure and other agricultural byproducts that may stimulate new research ideas and direction in the relevant fields.
