author of "Essentials of Fire Fighting, 6th Edition Instructional Package"

Elkie Burnside served as the curriculum manager at Fire Protection Publications from 2011 to 2013. Shortly after completing work on the Essentials of Fire Fighting Instructor Package, she took a position as an assistant professor in the professional department of the University of Findlay in Ohio. While at FPP, Burnside completed her Ph.D. in technical writing with an emphasis on multimodal instruction at Oklahoma State. She was assisted in the authorship of the instructor package by all of the editors, curriculum developers and graphic designers at FPP; the International Fire Service Training Association, and a committee of subject matter experts.

Fire Protection Publications instructor packages consist of lesson outlines, PowerPoint presentations, tests, quizzes and plans of instruction, all coordinated to teach courses that accompany FPP manuals. The materials are sold on flash drives and are also available online at FPP's learning management system, ResourceOne. In addition to these materials, the package for Essentials of Fire Fighting also includes an Exam Prep, Workbook and Skills Handbook, all released as separate print books intended for student use. The instructor package offers a comprehensive set of materials for teaching and learning all of the content in the Essentials of Fire Fighting, 6th Edition textbook for recruit firefighters.
