Maribeth Subramaniam Library Study Room unveiled at surprise dedication

April 11, 2022

The Friends of the OSU Library board of directors gathered on March 8 to unveil the latest named group study room in the Edmon Low Library. The gift to endow the room was made by Baloo Subramaniam as a surprise honoring his wife.

Maribeth Subramaniam has served on the Friends of the OSU Library Board of Directors since 2011. She learned of her husband’s gift at the public announcement.

“My husband is very good at surprises; I had no idea,” Maribeth said.

Group study rooms are one of the most popular resources offered at the OSU Library; last year more than 24,000 room reservations were made. The library has 24 rooms located on the first through third floors. Eleven rooms are still available to be named.

These private spaces are available by reservation, and the furnishings and equipment are designed to facilitate collaboration. Conference-style seating, dry-erase boards, and smart board technology provide students with an ideal location to brainstorm, write and practice presentations.

Gifts like this one from the Subramaniams are essential to fulfilling the library’s mission.
