Tours & Training for Student Success:

July 16, 2015

STILLWATER -Students who want to take full advantage of the Library's resources this semester can take a brief guided tour with an expert. Library 101 is a 15-minute orientation to the OSU Library that familiarizes students with the layout of the building and the resources available to them, along with a 15-minute overview of the Library's website and online resources. Dan Chaney, OSU social sciences librarian, is in charge of the program. "Becoming more familiar with the Library and its services can facilitate student success," Chaney said. "Many students tell us that the Library is large and intimidating to them. Library 101 makes it a more familiar place for them." Each tour begins at the general reference desk on the first floor. A librarian will guide the group through the building and discuss where research materials can be found and the locations of services, such as the self-checkout machines and study rooms. After the walking tour the group will be given a crash course in the Library's online resources. Library 101 takes place once a week on alternating days throughout the semester at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tours are free and open to the public, and no reservation is required. OSU faculty may arrange class tours by contacting their departmental subject-specialist librarian. For more information, visit www.info.library.okstate.edu/library101 or call 405-744-9775.
