OSU Library launches Amplified Oklahoma podcast
Series showcases stories about people in Oklahoma
August 22, 2016
The OSU Library is no stranger to bringing Oklahoma's stories to life through audio. Now, those storytelling efforts hit the internet with "Amplified Oklahoma," the first podcast produced by the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program at the OSU Library.
The new series highlights stories from the OSU Library's oral history collections and visits with experts, students and the interviewing team. Listeners can download or stream the podcast from SoundCloud, iTunes or Stitcher. Show notes, related images and links to recommended resources are also available on the OSU Library's website at library.okstate.edu/podcasts.
Juliana Nykolaiszyn, oral history librarian, is the podcast's producer and one of the regular voices listeners will hear on the series.
"Some podcasts will be serious, others will be light-hearted, but hopefully all will be engaging," Nykolaiszyn said. "We're excited to share these voices and also involve students in the process, like podcasting intern and OSU history senior Iris Owens."
The podcast publishes monthly. It examines a variety of topics related to Oklahoma history and culture and explores topics ranging from tornados to friendship.
Since 2007, the OOHRP at the OSU Library has collected and preserved firsthand accounts from individuals who have played a part in Oklahoma's history. The Program explores the lives and contributions of Oklahomans from all walks of life.
