24/5 Building Access Begins Oct. 27

Pilot Program Set to run Fall and Spring Semester

October 20, 2014

STILLWATER Beginning Oct. 27, 2014, the Edmon Low Library will begin a trial period for 24/5 building access. The Library will open at 9 a.m. on Sundays and remain open until 10 p.m. on Fridays. Saturday hours remain unchanged, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Hours will continue to be altered for holidays, summers and interesessions. The trial will run through the spring 2015 semester. The cost-effectiveness and demand for the increased hours will be evaluated at the completion of the trial.

The Library has steadily expanded building access over the years. In 1998, the weekday closing time was extended to 2 a.m. In 1999, 24 hour access was launched for finals week, a service that was later extended to pre-final week as well.

The decision to trial the 24/5 hour was a response to ongoing requests from students and a spring 2014 proposal from SGA.
