Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921
About the Collection
The Ruth Sigler Avery Collection consists of research notes, photocopied documents, books, videos, audio tapes and transcripts of interviews, and handwritten and computer generated writings, produced by Ruth Sigler Avery for her proposed book, "Fear, The Fifth Horseman: A Documentary-Anthology of the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot." In addition, there are also examples of Avery's poems, stories, and essays; personal documents, correspondence, and press cuttings; and family materials, which include genealogical documents, family narratives and photographs.
