O-STATE Stories

About the Collection

Do you remember the Howdy Walk around Theta Pond? How about playing bridge in the new Student Union or attending a dance in Murray Hall? These recollections and many more are recorded as part of the O-STATE Stories oral history project.

O-STATE Stories, a project of the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program, chronicles the rich history, heritage and traditions of Oklahoma State University.  People, places and events unfold through personal and compelling narratives of alumni, students, faculty and friends.  Memories captured forever on audio and video recordings powerfully portray the significant contributions of OSU and its alumni to society and speak of the individual and shared experiences of current and former students.

These “stories” are told in many ways and from many perspectives.  Some stories are unique to the individual interviewed, and others relate to a common bond or collective experience such as Homecoming, Greek life, residence hall life, Cowboy sports, student hangouts, leadership organizations, favorite faculty and social activities.  But all the stories, in part, are about the unforgettable memories and the connections for life forged in the “OSU experience.”
