Oklahoma Audio Almanac
About the Collection
"Hello, I'm Steven Knoche Kite, welcoming you to the Oklahoma Audio Almanac, where we turn back the pages of history to bring you the stories of our State's past."
Every Wednesday morning for four years, this greeting was followed by a brief look at one or more historically important events occurring during that week in Oklahoma. “The Oklahoma Audio Almanac” was heard on KOSU, Oklahoma's Public Radio, Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from May 31, 2000, to May 26, 2004.
“The Oklahoma Audio Almanac” was produced jointly by Steven Knoche Kite (a History Ph.D. student in the OSU Library's Archives) and Kelly Burley (News Director at KOSU, Oklahoma's Public Radio).
The digital collection contains the 176 episodes of “The Oklahoma Audio Almanac” including mp3 audio files and transcripts with historian's notes and resources used.
Note: Only transcripts are available for the following dates:
- July 25, 2001
- August 14, 2002
- February 11, 2004
