Library Awards 56 Scholarships

April 4, 2019

Paul Miller Day is April 5, 2019

This spring, the OSU Library awarded $60,550 in scholarships to 56 library student employees.

Each spring, the OSU Library offers library students employees the opportunity to apply for scholarships. All students continuing their education at OSU and their roles at the library the following year are eligible to apply.

Jacob Jackson, the digital storytelling intern for the Oklahoma Oral History Research Project department, said his scholarship allows him to dedicate greater attention to his schoolwork rather than his finances.

“Receiving the Betty R. Roberts Library Scholarship allows me to focus more on the academics and experiences of college, rather than stressing about the financial side of things,” Jackson said. “As a first-generation college student, the cost of college was my main concern. I'm not sure that I would be here today without scholarship support.”

Scholarships are just one of the benefits students receive when they work at the OSU Library. Students learn time management skills, workplace professionalism and customer service. They also learn how to better utilize the library’s resources in their schoolwork.

The OSU Library employees more than 200 students across numerous library departments. Students serve as interns, student assistants, first-generation peer mentors or mentees, ambassadors and graduate assistants.
