L.E. "Dean Stringer Day Declared"

The Friends of the OSU Library have chosen to honor long-time Library supporter, L.E. "Dean" Stringer by declaring September 11, 2018, as "Dean Stringer Day." The following proclamation was presented. 

Whereas, L.E. “Dean” Stringer is a valued friend and supporters of Oklahoma State University and the OSU Libraries; and

Whereas, During his nine years as a member of the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma State University and A&M Colleges, Dean passionately advocated for library funding; and

Whereas, Dean was instrumental in the founding of the Friends of the OSU Library in 1994, serving as president of the Board until 2011, and serving as a Board member throughout the organization’s history; and

Whereas, Dean commissioned, directed and participated in the award-winning yearlong celebration of the Library’s 50th Anniversary; and

Whereas, Dean, and his wife Carol, were the first donors to endow a library study rooms; and

Whereas, Dean received the 2012 Edna Mae Phelps Award for outstanding support of the OSU Library; and

Whereas, Dean, and his wife Carol, established the Dean and Carol Stringer Endowment to fund library projects such as Kindle checkout for the Education and Teaching Library;

…the Friends of the OSU Library do hereby proclaim September 11, 2018, as “Dean Stringer Day.”
