Sheri Vasinda
Co-Author of "Integrating Technology in Literacy Instruction: Models and Frameworks for all Learners"
January 15, 2021
Sheri Vasinda is the Alice Phillips Endowed Professor of Elementary Education and Associate Professor of Literacy Education in the School of Teaching, Learning and Educational Sciences in the College of Education and Human Sciences. Her research interests include supporting preservice and inservice teachers in developing deep understandings of reading processes and practices and how digital technologies expand what it means to be literate. These interests support her over-arching goal of creating learning environments that support all types of K12 learners in joyful and successful learning that meets and exceeds expectations. She is curious about what it means to be a teacher in the 21st Century in utilizing new tools and the instructional choices that teachers make at all levels - including her own practice. This curiosity led to a new line of research investigating teacher educators' use of technology in their methods courses. She is a member of the COT-R research team and the Initiative for 21st Century Literacies Research.
