Michael Grammer

Co-Author and Editor of "Mississippian Reservoirs of the Midcontinent"

G. Michael Grammer is a Professor and the Associate Head of the Boone Pickens School of Geology at Oklahoma State University and holds the Chesapeake Energy Endowed Chair of Petroleum Geology. Mike received his PhD in 1991 from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. His current research interests involve various aspects of high resolution sequence stratigraphy and its application to carbonate reservoir characterization, 3-D modeling and petrophysical characterization. He was the Director of a 14 member Industry Consortium at OSU from 2015-2018 that focused on the integration of sedimentology, stratigraphy, geophysics, and geochemistry of the Mississippian Limestone in the Mid-Continent region. The consortium included 5 other faculty members in the School of Geology and provided partial to full support for 22 graduate students and 8 undergraduate students. He is lead editor of AAPG Memoir 122 – Mississippian Reservoirs of the Midcontinent that highlights the results of the consortium as well as work done by other researchers in the region.

Mike has been an AAPG Distinguished Lecturer (2002-2003) and has led several AAPG field courses, including AAPG’s modern carbonate course in the Bahamas which he co-led for 14 years. In addition to several awards for professional presentations (AAPG, SEPM, GCAGS, GSA), he has been awarded the Robert H. Dott, Sr. Award for Best Special Publication as the lead editor for AAPG Memoir 80, the AAPG John. H. Shelton Search and Discovery Award, and the AAPG Grover E. Murray Memorial Distinguished Educator Award.
