Tom joined the faculty at OSU 1997. Before coming to OSU, he worked as an area Extension IPM Specialist with the University of Illinois, and as a research associate with the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station in Weslaco, Texas. Tom received his B.S. from Iowa State University, his M.S. from South Dakota State University and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.

“Common Insects of Field Crops in Oklahoma E-1043” was developed as a reference for the identification and management of common insects and mites that damage field crops grown in Oklahoma, including those in alfalfa, canola, corn, cotton, peanut, sorghum, wheat, soybean and sunflower. It is intended to be a resource for Cooperative Extension professionals, crop consultants and students involved in plant sciences and pest management. It also covers the basics of Integrated Pest Management for managing these pests. It contains color pictures of the insects, and covers the description, life cycle, plant host, damage and management for each pest.
