Growing up on a black sheep farm in south central Kansas with Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (now OSU)-graduate parents, Lynn began teaching adults hand spinning and natural dyeing at the age of five. Education has been her lifelong career: Master’s Degree in Adult and Occupational Education from Kansas State University, teaching grades 7-12 Home Economics at USD #378 Riley County, KS; working as an Education Consultant with Special Populations and Corrections at the Kansas State Department of Education; working for the Oklahoma State Department of Career and Technology Education as the Program Specialist for Health Occupations Education and serving as the State Health Occupations Student Organization State Advisor; becoming and working as a Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage Therapist; and working as an
Instructional Developer (of curriculum) for Fire Protection Publications/International Fire Service Training Association at Oklahoma State University as of November, 2011. Lynn is the proud wife of 32 years to Marc Hughes, parent of two grown children. "Free time" is spent rebuilding their home that was destroyed by the May 19, 2013 E4 tornado, riding their Honda GoldWing motorcycle, and teaching traditional rug hooking.

This curriculum accompanies the Building Construction Related to the Fire Service, Fourth Edition textbook. The curriculum is published on flash drive for distribution and online as part of Fire Protection Publication's learning management system, ResourceOne. The curriculum includes lesson outlines, digital presentations, tests and quizzes.
