Lucy Bailey
co-author of "Assessing Library Space For Learning"
February 16, 2018
Lucy Bailey is associate professor of Social Foundations and Qualitative Inquire, and the director of Gender and Women’s Studies, at Oklahoma State University. Her research and teaching interests include qualitative methodologies and contemporary and historical study of diversity issues in education. She has served as a qualitative methodologist on multiple grant teams designed to retain members of underrepresented groups in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Bailey is the editor of Vitae Scholasticae: The Journal of Educational Biography and serves as chair of the Biographical and Documentary Research Special Interest Group for the American Educational Research Association.
Increased electronic access to library resources has led to an ongoing discussion about the need for physical library buildings. On a college or university campus, the library is a destination for students, faculty and staff. Their usage makes the academic library a valuable learning space for campus. In “Assessing Library Space for Learning,” chapters discuss library usage at academic institutions and how that usage is an integral part of the student learning experience. This book is a combination of theory, practice and research-based chapters with an overall focus on the intersection of library space and learning.
