Libby Snyder
editor of "Hazardous Materials for First Responders, Fifth Edition" and "Building Construction Related to the Fire Service, Fourth Edition"
February 13, 2018
Libby Snyder has been a Senior Editor at Fire Protection Publications for nearly ten years. Her favorite part of her day job is sussing out the differences between need-to-know and nice-to-know information. She has lived in Stillwater since August 2000, having never left after completing an English degree at Oklahoma State University. Libby enjoys solving puzzles and untangling yarn. When Y2K failed to end the world as we knew it, she began developing a robust homestead-ready skill set including weaving, knitting and spinning yarn from raw fibers. She and her husband live in town with one cat.
This edition of "Hazardous Materials for First Responders" is intended to help firefighters train to meet the job performance requirements of the National Fire Protection Association's standard 1072. The textbook provides entry-level candidates the information and skills needed to become Awareness Level and/or Operations Level hazardous materials responders. The book also includes special competency areas for hazardous materials responders including use of personal protective equipment, product control, and decontamination.
