Leslie Miller

author of "Hazardous Materials Technician, Second Edition" and "Hazardous Materials for First Responders, Fifth Edition"

Leslie A. Miller was born and raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with Honors from Oklahoma State University. An editor with Fire Protection Publications since 2002, she has written and edited a variety of fire service training manuals. She serves on the National Fire Protection Association’s Hazardous Materials Response Personnel committee, and is also a member of the Society for Technical Communication. She writes short fiction for a hobby and is a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. A Payne County Master Gardener, Leslie writes a blog for PlantersPlace.com on gardening for wildlife. She also serves on the board of the Payne County Audubon Society.

This edition of "Hazardous Materials Technician" is intended to help firefighters and first responders train to meet the job performance requirements of the National Fire Protection Association's standard 1072. The textbook provides the information and skills needed to become Technician Level hazardous materials responders, the most highly skilled professionals at hazardous materials incidents. The book includes advanced skills for responding to hazardous materials incidents and information on the chemistry and dangers
of hazardous materials.

This edition of "Hazardous Materials for First Responders" is intended to help firefighters train to meet the job performance requirements of the National Fire Protection Association's standard 1072. The textbook provides entry-level candidates the information and skills needed to become Awareness Level and/or Operations Level hazardous materials responders. The book also includes special competency areas for hazardous materials responders including use of personal protective equipment, product control, and decontamination.
