January 24, 2018
Brant Adams received a bachelor of music degree in piano performance from Capital University, a master of music degree in music theory from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Ph.D. in music theory from The University of Texas at Austin, where he studied composition with Donald Grantham. He taught at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, 1980-83, and joined the music faculty at Oklahoma State University in 1987. He served as Head of the Department of Music 2008–15. He has now returned to teaching, and again serves as coordinator of the music theory area.
His compositions, arrangements, and orchestrations have been performed and recorded around the world by orchestras and choral ensembles across Europe, Central and South America, the Middle and Far East, and across the United States. His choral compositions are published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing and Mark Foster Music. His instrumental publications include a series of 20 books of instrumental solos with piano published by The Lorenz Corporation, as well as over 800 orchestrations and instrumental arrangements of sacred and concert music that are published by the Lorenz Corporation, Shawnee Press, Hope Music, Alfred Music, and Southern Music. In 1992, Dr. Adams was awarded the Distinguished Composer of the Year Award by the Music Teachers National Association.
"Trumpet Solos for Worship Volume 3" is the 19th book in the Brant Adams Instrumental Series with the Lorenz Corporation, and the third collection for solo trumpet and piano. Each book contains eight hymn setting arrangements and includes a CD that contains recordings of all selections, as well as accompanist tracks for the soloist. The books are geared toward professional level artists.
"Artistry in Ivory" is a collection of eight advanced level hymn arrangements for piano.
