OOHRP - Campus History Intern - Edmon Low Library
The OSU Library seeks a creative individual with strong research and writing skills to serve as the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program’s Campus History Intern. The successful candidate will work with the OOHRP team to audit the existing campus oral history collection, research underrepresented areas of campus history, identify topics and participants for oral history projects, conduct oral history interviews, and support other archival projects.
The Campus History Intern will work 10-15 hours per week during the Fall semester (August 17 - December 11, 2026). Hours are traditionally scheduled Monday-Friday between 8 am and 5 pm in person, although COVID precautions may permit remote work to be done outside of those hours .
Employment as an intern is on a semester by semester basis. Continued employment is contingent upon funding and performance. This position may be eligible for internship credit for some majors. Filing for credit is the responsibility of the student. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Only complete applications will be considered.
What You'll Do
The Campus History Intern will work collaboratively with the Oklahoma Oral History Research Program faculty and staff in auditing the existing campus oral history collection. The campus oral history collection contains 500+ interviews with alumni, faculty, and staff and covers a variety of degrees, programs, and experiences over the past century. The intern will assist in reviewing the collection for gaps or less documented aspects of campus history. The intern will also conduct independent research on a variety of topics related to OSU history to determine new topics to explore. The intern will also help create curated media pieces that promote the OOHRP collections and campus history. As time permits, the intern may have opportunities to conduct oral history interviews or assist in other archival projects.
The Campus History Intern will work 10-15 hours per week, scheduled Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work independently
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfort asking questions, and seeking feedback
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and ability to work on PC
- Ability to maintain professional decorum in a team environment and accept constructive feedback
- Must be enrolled at OSU
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Library's digital archival collections
- Experience with archival research
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with conducting oral history interviews
