The Education and Teaching Library (ETL) was established in 1957 as a learning laboratory for both teachers and librarians. Originally located on the fourth and later the fifth floor of the Edmon Low Library, the ETL moved to South Murray Hall in 1990 before relocating to Willard Hall in 1996. That relocation, made possible by a generous estate gift from Mary L. Williams, brought the ETL into the same building as the College of Education for the first time, significantly improving access for students and faculty and expanding its role in supporting educator preparation.

Today, the Mary L. Williams Education & Teaching Library serves all areas of the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) and the broader community, providing curriculum materials, children’s and young adult literature, and extensive professional resources. With a strong emphasis on instructional support, outreach, and hands-on teaching materials, the ETL continues its longstanding mission to prepare future educators and advance teaching and learning.
