Kenton Collection - Edmon Low Library

About the Collection

The Kenton Collection features approximately 275 historical images from the Kenton Museum in Kenton, Oklahoma. In addition to the photographs, the broader collection includes an inventory of grave markers from the Kenton Cemetery, which helps verify names and dates, as well as several audio interviews that provide additional context for the images. Together, these materials document the history of this distinctive Oklahoma Panhandle community.

Kenton is known for prehistoric fossil discoveries, pictographs, and the location of Oklahoma’s highest point at 4,973 feet above sea level. Situated in the far northwest corner of Cimarron County, it is also the only town in Oklahoma that observes Mountain Time.

Some images in this digital collection have been repaired or enhanced to improve clarity and viewing quality.
