About the Collection

The Early Oklahoma Serials Project began in 2009 through an Amigos Fellowship Grant awarded to librarians Helen Clements and Robin Leech. The project addressed the limited accessibility of early Oklahoma serials, including titles such as Indian School Journal, Sturm’s Oklahoma Magazine, and Harlow’s Weekly, which were often available only on microfilm in a small number of libraries.

The initiative sought to identify early serial publications from the territorial and early statehood period, document their statewide holdings, and promote collaboration among libraries. These activities strengthened awareness of Oklahoma’s early print culture and laid the groundwork for continued preservation and access initiatives.
