General Information

The OSU Library provides interlibrary lending services to other institutions.

Requests from other libraries are fulfilled through standard interlibrary loan channels. OSU faculty, staff, and students may use Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery services to request materials from libraries beyond the OSU Library collection. 

Community members who are not affiliated with OSU are encouraged to submit requests through their local public library or a university-affiliated library.

Lending Requests

Please note that Interlibrary Loan does not lend non-circulating materials, including items held in Distinctive Collections.

Loan Period

Twelve weeks standard, 16 weeks for GWLA institutions.

Renewal Period

One renewal for 8 weeks. Must be requested before the due date.

Request Methods

Institutions may submit lending requests through OCLC, RAPID, ALA, Email, or Mail.

Delivery Methods

Scans (Photocopies): Article Exchange, Odyssey, RAPID, Email, and Mail.
Loans: Oklahoma State Courier, TAE, FedEx, and Mail.

Charges & Billing

The OSU Library lends physical items at no charge. If an item is lost or returned damaged, the borrowing library will be responsible for a non-refundable $20.00 processing fee, plus the replacement cost of the item.

Electronic copies of articles or book chapters (delivered as PDF scans) are provided with no charge to the following partners:

• Oklahoma academic libraries
• Oklahoma public non-profit libraries
• Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) members
• RAPID members (within RAPID and reciprocal partners outside of RAPID)
• AM-BCR signers

For all other libraries:

• $15.00 per request when billed through OCLC Interlibrary Fee Management (IFM)
• $20.00 per request when billed by invoice

Billing Method

Fees are billed either through OCLC Interlibrary Fee Management (IFM) or by invoice, depending on the borrowing library’s configuration.
